I love painting pet portraits, but I also like depicting animals in ‘realistic’ situations. I’m sure we can all agree that the plastic epidemic is a disturbing and upsetting subject, however it is our reality and affects all living beings on some level.
Whilst addressing the ‘plastic’ subject visually, I decided to paint a fish trapped in a six pack, plastic wrap. Not only does the painting depict the grim reality for fish, being trapped and suffocating, but, the environmental climate change is doing the same to us too.
Plastic is everywhere on almost everything… Wrapping items to support their transportation, ensuring it stays clean and sanitary, to cluster items together for ‘our’ convenience… The list goes on.
So, here is a painting that I hope makes you think about your choices, especially when your choices affect other living beings.
